Elizabeth C. 9th Grade
A Flower in a Gun Barrel
I want to live where fields are overgrown with weeds and the roads are covered in flowers.
I want to dance across the sky with colors flowing through my fingers.
I wish to ask a fellow dreamer for a cup of sugar with a smile.
I want to see birds of all colors and sizes sit on my back porch and sing to the sun every morning.
I want to see trees reach for the heavens, and dance in the breeze.
I want to sit in my windowsill and read books about the wonders of the world for days at a time.
I want to live where my mother is happy.
I wish to live where money is treated as trash instead of power.
I want to live where the air is always warm, and the clouds are always full.
I wish to grow my hair down to the floor, and have my body covered in artwork.
I want to live where losing your mind is treated as a gift, and not as an illness.
I want to feel angels wrap their arms around me as I mourn.
I want to live where my heart feels like water, instead of sand.
I wish to understand death, and know what happens after my life comes to an end.
I want to see happy faces surround me.
I wish to see people helping those who need it.
I want to see hands being held, and hearts being mended.
I want to see lovers stay together until their bones fall apart.
I want to watch children play in oceans and smile until their jaws ache.
I want happiness to overcome my body.
I want to cry tears of joy, and nothing more.
I wish to close my eyes for the last time, and remember my life as a sweet melody.
