Tatiana K., 12th Grade: Believe, Dream, Inspire
Believe-
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
― Fred Rogers
There will always be people who cut us off on the highway after a long day at work. People at work experience rude customers who are having a bad day. In the world, we suffer tragedies, genocides, racism, discrimination, and malicious judgments. People make us feel incompetent, worthless, and bullied with words and actions. Then there are the ones who make our days a little brighter with a smile or simple gesture. There will always be people who want to belittle dreams and beliefs. In the mist of all the hurt and hate that we the people cause one another, I truly believe that there are good people in the world. I’ve always believed that all people are good; it’s our decisions that are bad. Everyone has heart and passion. Love will always outweigh hate. I believe in the good in people and that there will always be the ones who help make our world a better place to live in. Only love stops hate. It changes our world. We should all love our enemies.
Dream-
“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it...”
― Wilferd Peterson
Dreams are something that I hold very dear to my heart (not only because my middle name is Dreamer). Dreams are untouchable from the outside world. No one can take them, break them, or change them. Music has been my muse since I was a child. I love to sing, which many do not know. I told myself that I never want to grow older knowing that I have deferred my dream of pursuing music. As we all get older, we feel as if dreams are not a part of real life but just untouchable thoughts. I love the dreamers in world because the ones that think they can change the world are usually the ones that do. I love to perform, entertain, and make people drown in music that move them. When the world gets too rough for me, I turn on music and my worries melt.
Inspire-
Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
--Jim Morrison
Out of all the people in the world, the ones that inspire me the most are the ones who dare to be who they are. I feel as if people fear of not being accepted for who they are. We fear of being judged. We fear of being different. We fear of sharing our true opinion. We fear of social statuses. Because of those fears I feel as if we never see the full potential of how much we can pursue. When we are comfortable of whom we are, we believe that we too can and will be all that we can be. Go against the status quo. Disagree or agree. Speak loud or let your mind scream.
